As summer arrives and temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that access to nutritious meals shouldn’t take a vacation. The Free Summer Meals Program, available to all NYC residents, offers a lifeline to individuals and families who may face food insecurity or struggle to provide consistent meals during the summer break.

The Summer Meals Program in New York City offers eligible individuals free breakfast and lunch at designated public schools, community pool centers, parks, and food trucks to make healthy meals more accessible.

Eligibility Requirements

To receive free meals, individuals must be:

  • 18 years old or younger.
  • NYC residents.

2025 Service Dates

The summer program starts on Thursday, June 27th and lasts until Friday, August 29th.

  • Breakfast Service Time: 8am – 9:15am
  • Lunch Service Time: 11am – 1:15pm

What Do I Need to Bring?

No registration, documentation, or ID is necessary to receive a free breakfast or lunch meal.

Food Truck Locations and Operating Hours

  • Manhattan: Sara D. Roosevelt Park (Chrystie St. & Forsythe Street New York, NY 10002)
  • Brooklyn: Prospect Park (Parkside & Ocean Avenue Brooklyn, NY 11215)
  • Bronx: Haffen Park (Ely Avenue & Hammersley Avenue Bronx, NY 10469 by the baseball field & basketball courts)

The community food truck operates 7 days a week (No service Friday, July 4, 2025):

  • Weekday Hours: 10 AM – 4 PM
  • Weekend Hours: 10 AM – 3 PM
